Santa's Pre-Flight Parade: The fourth annual caravan, featuring the big guy himself, parades through the streets of Westchase from 1:30-7 p.m., starting with a musical performance of the Nutcracker at Westchase Town Center, 9524 W Linebaugh Ave., and ending with a party and tree-lighting at West Park Village near the intersection of Montague and Linebaugh. Bring a new, unwrapped toy for Sincerely Santa, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's District III toy drive. Call (813) 404-9745.

Holiday celebration at historic school: Catch up with Santa and check out Christmas trees, model railroads, animated figures and other decorations at the Old Lutz Schoolhouse, which was built in 1927. This is the 12th year the historic school, at 18819 U.S. 41, has been decorated for the holidays.

From 8:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, children can have a continental breakfast with Santa for $2, make crafts, get their faces painted and tour the school. The schoolhouse also will be open for free tours from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, as well as Dec. 20, 21, 26 and 27. Those nights also feature music from local school and church choirs along with other musicians.

Handel's Messiah: The Tampa Oratorio Singers perform the Christmas section of Handel's Messiah at 5 p.m. today and Sunday at Palma Ceia Presbyterian Church, 3501 San Jose St. Free. Call (813) 247-3866.
