It's spring break for public schools in Hillsborough. Entertain your kids with a little history on Monday. It's "Spring Break Aboard the AmVic." Students can play on the SS American Victory for free with the purchase of one full-price adult ticket. Once on board, they'll receive a fun worksheet of items to be found on the ship. Here's something a little unusual. David Kaczynski, brother of so-called Unabomber Ted Kaczynski, will talk on "The Death Penalty in America: A Personal Story" at 7:30 tonight in Fox Hall at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg. Kaczynski is the executive director of New Yorkers for Alternatives to the Death Penalty. Free.
Okay, if that last event was too creepy, this will cleanse your palate: a can't-miss classic movie in a historic venue. The 1955 thriller To Catch a Thief, starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly, plays at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Capitol Theatre in Clearwater. $6.
Stay with us on this one. It's a Celebrity Dog Wash featuring the Band Perry. Roll the pooch through the muck so members from band, which is opening for Tim McGraw at the 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheatre in Tampa, can pretty her up at this charity dog wash at 11 a.m. Friday at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay in Tampa. The band members will sign autographs, and you can win tickets to their show later that night. It's free, but donations benefit the Humane Society of Tampa Bay.
This sounds cool. It's called Beach Goes Pops. Hit Pass-a-Grille Beach for two days of free music, art and food vendors at this annual festival, which also celebrates the community's 100th anniversary. One of the beach's biggest fans, former Gov. Charlie Crist, is set to be master of ceremonies. Starts at 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
