Dolphin Tale Red Carpet Benefit: Locals are pretty much required to see Dolphin Tale, starring Winter the dolphin and shot mostly in Clearwater. It opens Friday, but you can see it Wednesday at a screening that benefits the Clearwater Marine Aquarium and Challenged Athletes Foundation. $99, but you can get 25 percent off with the code Winter25 at seewinter.com while they last. Fright delights: The theme parks are dying to give you a fright with Halloween Horror Nights at Universal in Orlando and Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens in Tampa, both starting Friday. Go to websites for best prices. For the wee ones, ZooBoo at Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa offers $10 Shriek Peeks Friday and Saturday.

Date night

Thompson Square: The husband-and-wife country duo are up for the CMA's New Artist of the Year and Vocal Duo of the Year. See them at the Round Up in Tampa for just $10–$15 on Friday.

Big music: Saturday is packed, with country powerhouse Miranda Lambert at the Trop after the Rays game and Blink 182 and My Chemical Romance at 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheatre; (813) 740-2446; with openers indie-rock duo Matt and Kim. Plus, rapper J. Cole at Jannus Live, Peter Bjorn and John at Czar and the Tangerine Blues Fest in Gulfport. Whew.

Board Games, Bubbly and Brew: Grownups get to play at the Glazer Children's Museum, with restaurant samples, games, beer, wine and champagne Saturday. $50; (813) 443-3805. Kids and family

Happy birthday Glazer Children's Museum: As the Tampa museum turns 1, you get a gift: $5 admission through Sept. 30. Plus, there's a party in Curtis Hixon Park on Sunday with Radio Disney prizes and cake. Also $5.

Museum Day: Lots of local museums will be free on Saturday as part of the national Smithsonian Magazine event, but many require a free ticket. Get a list and tickets at smithsonianmag.com. In Pinellas, Saturday is also Arts Alive Day, with free admission to some museums.
