On your radar: Check out a giant home show, head downtown for a lively block party, attend a haute event or go see a hot rapper

Florida's Largest Home Show: With more than 1,000 exhibitors, who's to argue if it's not? Fill up your honey-do list this weekend and see futuristic technology and new products starting at 11 a.m. today through Sunday at the Tampa Convention Center, 333 S Franklin St., Tampa. $8, $7 seniors, free for 12 and younger.

Get Downtown: The First Friday block party draws a lively crowd in the heart of St. Petersburg, and it's a giant fan fest pep rally as both the Tampa Bay Rays and FC Tampa Bay push for the playoffs. Wear your favorite team gear for giveaways starting at 5:30 p.m. on Central Avenue at Third Street N. Free.

Haute! This fashion event at the Florida Museum of Photographic Arts will spotlight accessory designers at 7 p.m. at 200 N Tampa St., Tampa. $25. (813) 221-2222;

John Heffron: The winner of the second season of Last Comic Standing brings his guy-centric humor at 8 and 10:30 p.m. at the Improv Comedy Theater, 1600 E Eighth Ave., Tampa. $17–$20.

Mims: The rapper who gave the hip-hop world the hit This Is Why I'm Hot performs at 9 p.m. at Jackson's Bistro, 601 S Harbour Island Blvd., Tampa. $15.

Rooftop Party: Adding in to the First Friday fun tonight is a rooftop party at Cafe Alma. Up the elevator you'll find two bars and music, plus $20 all-you-can drink and shot specials. No cover, at 11 p.m. 260 First Ave. S, No. 100, St. Petersburg. Reservations required. (727) 502-5002.

Season premiere, Man, Woman, Wild, 9 p.m., Discovery: Myke and Ruth Hawke continue to explore the ultimate in survival situations: a former Special Forces survival expert trying to live with a TV journalist.

Sugar High, 10:30 p.m., Food: A Chicago restaurant serves a dessert modeled after Elvis Presley. It must be huge, rolled in potato-chip crumbs and deep-fried.


Tickets for Wait, Wait … Don't Tell Me! on Nov. 17 at the Straz Center in Tampa are not on sale today. The ticket-release date has been changed to Sept. 12.
