On your radar: Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios Florida and Busch Gardens' Howl-O-Scream start this week

Theme park Halloween: The zombie craze is alive (or undead, at least) at the theme parks this year. Catch a Freaky Preview on Friday and Saturday at Busch Gardens' Howl-O-Scream in Tampa, which will be infested with zombies, two new haunted houses and the return of five others for its "unlucky 13th" year; see howloscream.com/tampa for pricing. Opening Friday is Universal's Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando, which is embracing AMC's popular zombie show The Walking Dead; halloweenhorrornights.com/orlando.

Professional Bull Riders: Watch what happens when you plop a cowboy on a 2,000-pound ticked-off bull with a name like Bushwacker or Smack Down. It's wild. The competition comes to the Tampa Bay Times Forum on Friday and Saturday. $10–$150. (813) 301-2500. Plus, meet the cowboys at a free weigh-in and autograph session Thursday at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino.

Rosario Dawson: The actor (Sin City) and co-founder of Voto Latino missed an RNC appearance, but she'll speak at the USF Lecture Series on Wednesday at Marshall Student Center in Tampa. It's free and USF students get priority seating.

Kids and family

$5 Admission to Glazer Museum: The children's museum in Tampa is celebrating its second year by giving you a deal: $5 admission through Sept. 30.

Star Trek Night at the Rays: Start practicing the Vulcan salute for this game against the Boston Red Sox on Thursday at the Trop. Trekker attire, please. Toll-free, 1-888-326-7297.

Imagination Movers: The band for kids spins catchy, danceable power pop songs that appeal to parents, too, on Saturday and Sunday at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. $25–$35. (727) 791-7400.

Date night

Wine and beer fests: The Tampa Theatre's movie-themed wine fest is Planet of the Grapes, with a food and wine pairing and various tastings Friday through Sunday. See tampatheatrewinefest.org. There's also the Tampa Bay Wine & Food Festival at the Straz Center on Friday and Saturday ( tampabaywineandfood.com) and the World Beer Festival at the Coliseum in St. Petersburg on Saturday, with local and global brews. $40 advance, $50. (727) 892-5202.

The Go-Go's: Belinda Carlisle and the "girls" uncork some '80s pop (Our Lips Are Sealed, Vacation) at the Mahaffey Theater on Wednesday. $35–$60. (727) 892-5798.
