Florida State Fair: This year, the fair is more than deep-fried bubble gum (seriously!). New is a 70-foot zip line across a lake, lawn mower races and an indoor extreme sports show. The fair opens Thursday at the fairgrounds in Tampa, and you can save up to $4 off admission and $5 off midway ride armbands through Wednesday at Sweetbay stores.

Dolphin Tale: See the movie about local celebrity Winter the dolphin practically in her back yard, at Pier 60 on Clearwater Beach. Starts about dusk Friday. Free.
