On your radar: Mayhem brings rock to the Gary, Red Bull wakeboarders hit the water, the Hot Sun Quarter jazzes things up, or see 'Friday the 13th' on Friday the 13th

Mayhem Festival: The annual rock fest's lineup includes heavy metal veterans Slipknot, Slayer, Anthrax and Motorhead, along with Whitechapel, the Devil Wears Prada, As I Lay Dying, Asking Alexandria, High On Fire and more. It starts at 1 p.m. at 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre in Tampa. $25.50–$64.50. (813) 740-2446.

Red Bull Wake Open: Hundreds of wakeboarders will descend on Tampa for this two-day international competition with three different wakeboarding events. It's free for spectators to watch from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and noon to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Tampa Convention Center, 333 S Franklin St., Tampa. (404) 804-1526.

Summer Jazz Series: The Hot Sun Quartet performs at this edition of the museum music series featuring some of the Tampa Bay area's best jazz musicians. Music takes place in the glass conservatory, and the MFA Cafe will be open, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Museum of Fine Arts in St. Petersburg. $10, $5 members, includes museum admission. Capitol Cult Film Series: Friday the 13th: It's the perfect night to watch this classic horror movie that marks the beginning of Jason Voorhees' reign of terror. See it at 8 p.m. at Capitol Theatre, 405 Cleveland St., Clearwater. $5. (727) 791-7400.

Friday Flicks in the Park: The night begins at 7 p.m. with food vendors and children's activities, then settle onto the lawn for the movie Big Miracle, about a reporter who recruits his ex-girlfriend to save trapped whales. Movie is at 9 p.m. at Treasure Island Community Park, One Park Place & 106th Ave, Treasure Island. Free.
