On your radar: New talent at Skipper's, 'Yankee Doodle Dandy' and fun with the whole family

Showcase Night: Check out the talent that's new to the Skipper's stage at this monthly music showcase, with Free Range Roosters, Burning Tree, the Transfers and Chris Sgammato starting at 7:30 p.m. at 910 Skipper Road, Tampa. $5. (813) 977-6474; www.skipperssmokehouse.com.

Yankee Doodle Dandy: This part of the Capitol Classics Film Series features the three-time Academy Award-winning 1942 musical starring James Cagney, Joan Leslie and Walter Huston. In a biography of George M. Cohan, Cagney's dancing is spectacular and the soundtrack is a huge slice of the American songbook. It starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Capitol Theatre, 405 Cleveland St., Clearwater. $6. (727) 791-7400.

Kids and family

Playing in the Park: Kids in Curtis Hixon Park get kid-friendly versions of Zumba, yoga, karate and hip-hop dancing. There will also be free healthy snacks and live music for the "cool down" at 6:30 p.m. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic and enjoy the park at 4:30 p.m. Bonus: They have some cool fountains there to play in. Free.

Teen Tidalwave Tuesdays: Teens and tweens can hang with friends and enjoy swimming, snacks, games and prizes in and around the pool. It's 7 p.m. at Highland Recreation Complex and Family Aquatic Center, 400 Highland Ave. NE, Largo. $3.

Two Dollar Target Tuesday: Get a cheap peek at the Glazer Children's Museum from 2 to 7 p.m. today. It's normally $15 for adults, $9.50 for kids. Once inside, kids can pilot a cruise ship, build a noodle sculpture, design a city, fly an airplane, paint with light and slide down a firefighter's pole. The museum is in Curtis Hixon Park, 110 W Gasparilla Plaza, Tampa. (813) 443-3861.

To watch

Season premiere, Teen Mom, 10 p.m., MTV: Teenage motherhood. Domestic abuse charges. Hospitalizations and suicide threats. Of course, this is what we want to read about in the supermarket checkout aisle.

House Crashers, 9 p.m., DIY: Our home will never be complete unless we, too, can own a tabletop made from reclaimed bowling alley wood. It just won't.
