On your radar: Play for trekkies beams down to American Stage, and Elvis fans dance to 'Jailhouse Rock' at the Capitol

Crowns: Portraits of Black Women in Church Hats: This exhibit was done by Washington, D.C., photographer Michael Cunningham, who will offer remarks at this opening reception at 6 p.m. at Hillsborough Community College Dale Mabry Campus Art Gallery, 4001 Tampa Bay Blvd., Tampa. Free.

Jailhouse Rock: This 1957 classic stars Elvis Presley as a criminal who discovers his musical talent while doing time for manslaughter. Screenings are 3 and 7 p.m. at Capitol Theatre in Clearwater. $5.

Date night

Play Reading Series: This one is by actors and singers of Trek, the Musical by Lauren Field and Gaetano Rodriguez. It's an intergalactic musical spoof written by fans, for fans, of Star Trek. Show is 7 p.m. at American Stage in St. Petersburg. Pay what you can at the door.

To watch

Jamie's American Road Trip, 10 p.m., BBC America: To understand American food, Jamie Oliver heads to Queens, where he samples Colombian, Egyptian, Peruvian and Szechuan fare. Will someone just get the poor lad some fried cheese sticks, already?
