On your radar: Reggae-rock or sludge metal? Not into those musical options? How about a deal at the Hillsborough fair?

The Dirty Heads with Gym Class Heroes: Reggae-rock group Dirty Heads broke the mold when it released Lay Me Down, a reggae-hop love story drowned in Corona. The group earned extra street cred when Rolling Stone named them one of the Best New Bands of 2010. Frisky pop-rock act Gym Class Heroes and frontman Travie McCoy co-headline the show with a Warped Tour-meets-the-shore vibe at 8 p.m. at Jannus Live in St. Petersburg. $23.

Weedeater: This sludge metal band formed in North Carolina in 1997 with members from the recently defunct Buzzoven has released four full-length albums. Show is 7 p.m. at The Orpheum, 1915 E Seventh Ave., Ybor City. $13.

Taste of Midtown: Part of the annual exhibit of student photography exhibit Midtown Through Our Eyes, the popular Taste of Midtown returns with samples of the area's restaurants and a showing of a minidocumentary. It starts at 5 p.m., film begins at 6 p.m. at [email protected], 620 First Ave. S, St. Petersburg. Free.

Kids and family

Hillsborough County Fair: The county fair kicks off today with Dollar Day. In addition to the greasy goodies and carnival games, it's $1 admission and $1 rides today. It opens at 5 p.m. at Hillsborough County Fairgrounds, corner of Sydney Washer Road and State Road 60, Brandon.

To watch

Season premiere, Work of Art: The Next Great Artist, 9 p.m., Bravo: Apparently the network thought that creating art on demand in a fixed time limit for a cash prize was compelling enough to warrant a second season.

America's Next Top Model, 9 p.m., CW: Kim, Kourtney and Khloe Kardashian upstage LaToya Jackson, because while the trio elicits screams from the contestants, the girls don't even know who LaToya is.

Happy Endings, 9:30 p.m., ABC: Will & Grace's Megan Mullally plays Penny's mom. Wow, when did that age difference happen?

Season premiere, Psych, 10 p.m., USA: This season features guest appearances from William Shatner, Kristy Swanson, Molly Ringwald and more.
