On your radar: 'Ring' cycle, a presidential overthrow, 'Butterfly' is about to flit and a free hockey clinic

Lord of the Rings: Fans of the trilogy won't want to miss tonight and the next two Tuesdays when they can see a one-night special screening of uncut, extended versions of the original films. See it at Park Place Stadium 16 in Pinellas Park, Veterans 24 in Tampa, Citrus Stadium 20 in Tampa and Regency 20 in Brandon. Tonight is The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring at 7 p.m. $12.50.

Seven Days in May: The Capitol Classics Film Series continues with this 1964 film starring Burt Lancaster and Kirk Douglas about U.S. military leaders plotting to overthrow the president because he supports a nuclear treaty with the Soviets. 7:30 p.m., Capitol Theatre, 405 Cleveland St., Clearwater. $6.

The Groves: The rocking jam band performs a live show with Ted Lukas and the Misled and the Rich Whiteley Band at 7 p.m. at Skipper’s Smokehouse, 910 Skipper Road, Tampa. $7.

Madama Butterfly: Tonight is the last performance of this opera presented by the St. Petersburg Opera Company, with traditional Japanese pageantry and a pulsating Puccini score. See it at 7:30 p.m., Palladium Theater, 253 Fifth Ave. N, St. Petersburg. $21.50–$61.50

Be a Hockey Player for a Day: If your kids caught hockey fever during the NHL playoffs, they can check out this free roller hockey clinic. Bring a hockey or bicycle helmet and any hockey related equipment you may have at 6 p.m., USA Skateplex, 5313 E Busch Blvd., Temple Terrace. Free. (813) 989-2100.
