On your radar: 'The Help' inspires Studio@620 to delve into real stories of day workers and their families — or you could learn about Dalí's collaboration with Disney

The Tiger Lillies: The surreal three-piece band puts on a darkly humorous show described as gypsy cabaret at 7:30 p.m. at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa. Tickets start at $27.50.

Decades of Day Work: Inspired by The Help, Studio@620 fuses music, drama, spoken word, food and audience discussion to delve into the real stories of day workers and their families at 7 p.m. at 620 First Ave. S, St. Petersburg. $10.

Dalí & Beyond Film Series: Tonight features Disney and Dalí's Destino and the feature length documentary A Date with Destino about the collaboration between Walt Disney and the surrealist painter. The film is free in the lobby at 6 p.m. If you want to see the gallery, there's a price break. Admission is $10 from 5 to 8 p.m. every Thursday at One Dalí Blvd. (Bayshore Drive SE and Fifth Avenue SE), St. Petersburg.

Rock the Park: The monthly music series tonight brings a show by Guiltmaker, Michael Christmas and J'Nelle. There will be food and beverages on site, or you can pack a picnic at 6:30 p.m. at Curtis Hixon Park in Tampa. Free.

Between the Buried and Me: The North Carolina prog-metal band plays with Animals as Leaders and TesseracT at 7 p.m. at Ritz Ybor, 1503 E Seventh Ave., Tampa. $20.

Kids and family

Halloween Candy Sweet Swap: Kids can swap their excess candy for a gift from the Pumpkin Box and a chance to win a bike, a Play Pass or tickets to a Bucs game. Each pound of candy turned in earns one entry ticket. All candy collected will be sent to U.S. troops through Operation Gratitude. Starts at 9 a.m. at The Long Center, 1501 N Belcher Road, Clearwater. Free. (727) 793-2320.
