 Today's TipSheet

On your radar: The Pinellas County Fair opens at the Trop, or see Kevin Costner's band or Diana Krall

Pinellas County Fair: The five-day event kicks off today with carnival rides including a giant Ferris wheel, live music on three stages, fair food, beer and vendors. It's at 5 p.m. at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. $6, $5 ages 5–12, four and younger free. Wristbands: $15 advance, $20 day of; ride tickets $1 each. (727) 346-8032; pinellascountyfair.com.

Kevin Costner and Modern West: Oscar-winning actor Kevin Costner and his country-rock band Modern West return to the area for a concert at 8 p.m. at Lakeland Center Youkey Theatre, 701 W Lime St., Lakeland. $35–$123. (863) 834-8111.

Encore Chamber Music Series: Trio De Minaret: Pianist Grigorios Zamparas and soprano Hein Jung join Lei Liu on violin and Lowell Adams on cello to perform works by Mozart, Browning and Shostakovich. There's a reception and talk-back with the artists after the concert, which starts at 7:30 p.m. at Palladium Theater in St. Petersburg. $22. (727) 822-3590; spcollege.edu/palladium.

Date night

Diana Krall: Mrs. Elvis Costello lends her smoky vocals to jazz standards in this rescheduled concert at 8 p.m. at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. $72–$135. (727) 791-7400; rutheckerdhall.com.

To watch

Season finale: Whitney, 8 p.m., NBC: Whitney and Alex head to City Hall to get married, but then it gets called off when they realize the entire point of this one-joke series is that they aren't married. Things can't change on sitcoms, you know.

Happy Endings, 9:30 p.m., ABC: Elisha Cuthbert pretends to be a lesbian. That is all.

Season premiere: Whitechapel, 10 p.m., BBC: America Miles and Buchan head to London's East End, which we hear has quite the grisly history. Well, that's what happens after 1,000 years or so.
