Features and More

On your radar

Vanishing Point: It's preview night for this musical fantasy that brings together Agatha Christie, Aimee Semple McPherson and Amelia Earhart — all of whom disappeared in the early 1900s — on a road trip through time and space. It's at 7:30 p.m. at American Stage Theatre Company in St. Petersburg. Preview tickets are $29. (727) 823-7529; americanstage.org.

RLife Live Music Series: Woody performs as part of a summer music series that features traveling artists. It's at 5 p.m. at Renaissance Tampa Hotel International Plaza, 4200 Jim Walter Blvd., Tampa. Free. (813) 877-9200.

Hyde Park Village Live Music Series: Local rock quartet the James-Lange Theory performs at this outdoor music series that starts this month and runs through October. Proceeds from beverage sales benefit a different charity each month; this month it's the Quantum Leap Farm. The scheduled rain date is Friday. Music starts at 7 p.m. at the Fountain in Hyde Park Village, Tampa. Free. hydeparkvillage.net.

Tv note

North Port standup comic Gid Pool will be on the Today show's Your Life Calling with Jane Pauley segment Thursday morning on NBC. The segment, originally set to air earlier in the month, was postponed by the network due to scheduling conflicts.

To watch

Season premiere; Melissa & Joey, 8 p.m., ABC Family: A tricky home renovation stresses Mel out, and she and Joe have a tiff about boundaries. Weird, these problems never seem to surface on Downton Abbey.

Series premiere; Dogs in the City, 8 p.m., CBS: Really, CBS? A show about a dog whisperer in New York, and this is what you're calling it? Why not just go with Barks and Recreation? Or It's Always Puppy In Philadelphia? Or CSI: Dogs?
