This krewe looks pretty bummed out by the newer, cleaner Gasparilla. Can you blame them?

Plan your weekend

Parade

Gasparilla Things will not be quite so loose at this year's Parade of the Pirates, so think twice before you flash for beads. But some things won't change: There will be elaborate floats, marching bands and more than 70 Krewes from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Tampa on Saturday.

Yee haw!

Bull riding The top 40 bull riders in the world return to Tampa for the Professional Bull Riders' Built Ford Tough Series. Check out the cowboys at the St. Pete Times Forum at 8 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $10-$100, plus service charges. (813) 301-2500; stpetetimesforum.com.

Comedy

Bill Burr The veteran of comedy specials and late-night talk shows, as well as his own Sirius XM program and podcast, Uninformed, performs this weekend at the Improv, 1600 E Eighth Ave., Ybor City. $16-$20. (813) 864-4000. billburr.com.

Art

Re:Create: The Art of Upcycle This unique art/music/film/fashion event features recycled art by a group of trendy local artists. There's also a "Re-Fashion" show and a sneak peek of the Project 3.0 documentary about the "greenovating" of the historic Roosevelt space. It's at 9 p.m. Saturday; $10 cover includes food and drink. Roosevelt Art Space, 1812 N 15th St., Ybor City. (813) 421-4802.

Music

Collective Soul Mayor Pam Iorio is encouraging revelers to use the new Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park because the parade ends there and Collective Soul is performing with the river as a backdrop. Free, 8 p.m., 600 N Ashley Drive, Tampa. gasparillapiratefest.com.

Food

Kumquat Festival This quirky festival for the tangy little citrus has caught the attention of the Travel Channel for its old-fashioned charm. Set in the rolling hills of Dade City, there's also a farmer's market, crafts, entertainment, quilt show and kids activities from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday along Meridian Avenue.
