Rock tribute to highlight Chasco Fiesta events

In comparison to the hustle and bustle of Saturday's big day at Chasco Fiesta in New Port Richey, today will probably seem rather sedate.

Except, of course, for the nine-hour tribute to classic rock music from 1 to 10 p.m. in the Sims Park amphitheater, where Purple Haze, Bone Yard Dogs, Jeteye and Roadhouse will rev up spirits a notch or two.

Earlier in the day, cars, trucks and bikes are scheduled to rumble around Orange Lake for the Gulfside Corvette Club show from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The show features cars, trucks and motorcycles from the 1930s to the 1990s, as well as customs and classics, all competing for trophies.

The Native American Pow Wow comes to a close at 5 p.m. with the announcement of winners of the $14,000 in prizes in the dance competition. The Native American Festival, with daily special events, continues through March 28.
