St. Pete Pride

Founded in 2003, St. Pete Pride is an annual celebration that draws thousands of people downtown, especially for the signature parade and street festival. Here are the details of the weekend's Pride events. For more details about all the weekend's events, go to www.stpetepride.com.

Pride events

Taste of Pride: Reception featuring live jazz, wine tastings and light hors d'oeuvres. Benefits the Ryan Skipper Foundation. 7 to 10 tonight, Nova 535 Art Lounge, 535 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. N. $30. (727) 821-6682.

Laughter in Paradise Comedy Festival: 7:30 to 10 p.m. Friday, Nova 535 Art Lounge, 535 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. St. N. Features Ant and Christine O'Leary. Doors open at 6 p.m., with show at 7:30. St. Pete Pride Promenade and Street Festival: 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday in the Grand Central District, between First avenues N and S and 19th and 31st streets. Parade begins at 10 a.m. and moves through Historic Kenwood, then along Central Avenue. Festival, noon to 5 p.m. on Central Avenue from 21st to 28th streets. Features 250 vendors and entertainment on two stages, including headliners Josh Zuckerman and Nancy Rancourt. Free. (727) 388-9435.

Rock Loud, Rock Proud: Betty, performer of The L-Word theme song, headlines the event with Someday Souvenir. 8 p.m. Saturday, the Coliseum, 535 Fourth Ave. N. $20 advance, $25 at the door. (727) 892-5202.

Reel Pride GLBT Film Festival 2008: Last event in a series. Films include Some Ground to Stand On, 6 p.m., and Shelter and the Walker, 8 p.m. Saturday, New Port Richey Library, 5939 Main St. Free. (727) 853-1279.
