Florida Strawberry Festival
The festival has all the charm of a hometown fair: huge vats of whipped cream and strawberries, Robinson's Paddling Porkers pig races, a lumberjack show and whirling midway rides. So quaint — until you look at the music lineup of top country stars. Sweet! The fest opens Feb. 26 and runs through March 8. Gate admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children 6 to 12, and free for kids 5 and younger. Gates open at 10 a.m. daily. The festival closes at 10 p.m. and the midway closes at midnight. Extended hours are available on certain days at an additional cost. See the Web site for a complete schedule and details. 2202 W Reynolds St., Plant City. Advance discount tickets are on sale for $2 off adult gate admission, $1 off children, at participating Sweetbay Supermarkets. Feb. 26 is Senior Citizens' Day, with $2 off admission for those 60 and older. For information on other discount days, including those for kids and military, go to www.flstrawberryfestival.com.
