Suncoast Art Fest puts works on display in seven Pasco County spots

The Suncoast Art Fest event at the Shops at Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel features four chalk artists creating original works on the sidewalk outside Macy’s. Livening up the walkway will be Carol Donoghue, Stig Lindow, Laurie Pinna and Javier Sanchez.

The fifth annual Suncoast Arts Fest kicks off today from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and continues from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Shops at Wiregrass in Wesley Chapel, off State Road 56 about 2.5 miles east of Interstate 75.

More than 100 artists and crafts makers will sell paintings, jewelry, sculpture and other items. Four chalk artists will create new work on the sidewalk outside Macy's. Live entertainment will be in a tent in the central plaza. Wiregrass' many restaurants and shops will be open.

In addition, six other venues are in this year's festival.

Progress Energy Art Gallery at 6231 Grand Blvd. in New Port Richey will be open from 10 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. today and from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday. Artists' booths will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Grand Boulevard, and the Downtown Market will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Railroad Square. Mini walking tours to see downtown wall murals will be conducted at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. from the gallery. A children's art show is from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the New Port Richey Aquatic and Recreation Complex on Van Buren Street (shuttle provided).

West Pasco Art Guild at 6206 Jefferson St., New Port Richey, will open its nautical exhibit "Water, Water Everywhere" from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, with 50 paintings by 40 artists and items by Suncoast Ship Model Society and Toy Makers of Pasco County.

Pasco Arts Council at 5744 Moog Road, Holiday, will open its gallery and gift shop from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. today.

Pasco-Hernando Community College Art Gallery in the Alric Pottberg Library at 10230 Ridge Road, New Port Richey, will be open from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today featuring photographs by the Chasco Camera Club.

Leepa-Rattner Museum of Art at 600 E Klosterman Road, Tarpon Springs (1 mile west of U.S. 19) will exhibit 850 miniature paintings, porcelains and sculptures by the Miniature Art Society of Florida. Admission is $5 adults, $4 seniors, free to children, students with ID and museum members.

Pioneer Florida Museum off U.S. 301 north of Dade City will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. today.
