Tampa's Comic Con scores 'Walking Dead' star

Tampa Bay Comic Con has scored a pop culture hit this year, bringing Chandler Riggs, who portrays Carl Grimes in AMC's much-buzzed-about zombie hit The Walking Dead, to meet and greet fans. Riggs, who plays a lil' Dirty Harry (Zombie Edition) who just can't stay put when he's told, will be at the huge comic convention on both days, Oct. 20-21. At least, they told him to stay there both days, but Carl tends to wander into trouble. In addition to the boy in the oversized hat, there will be 100 tables of comics, videos, Star Wars memorabilia and more. Season 3 of The Walking Dead premieres the week before Tampa Bay Comic Con and the show is heavily featured in Universal's Halloween Horror Nights. Comic Con will be Oct. 20-21 at Tampa's Doubletree Hotel by Hilton, 4500 W Cypress St. Admission is $10, 12 and younger free. See tampabaycomiccon.com. — Sharon Kennedy Wynne, Times staff writer
