A friend of gators
Jeff Klinkenberg knows gators. In a funny and frightening multimedia program, the St. Petersburg Times reporter and author will explain how alligators make our state different from anywhere else. "You can be mugged in Manhattan,'' he says. "But you won't be devoured by dinosaurs.'' Using photographs, music, video and old-fashioned story telling, he'll share his own experiences and tell about other encounters between the beasts and humans dating back to the 1500s. The pay-what-you-can program is 7:30 Thursday at Studio@620, 620 First Ave. S in St. Petersburg. Afterward, Klinkenberg will sell and sign his latest book, a collection of essays, Pilgrim in the Land of Alligators. For information, or to make reservations, call (727) 895-6620.
