Things to do in Tampa Bay for Dec. 13

A Christmas Carol: A New Musical: A Freefall holiday tradition continues with the opening of Keith Ferguson's and Bruce Greer's musical adaptation of the Dickens classic, complete with a soaring score, lush scenery and surprising special effects. It's at 7 p.m. at Freefall Theatre, 6099 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. $37-$44. (727) 498-5205.

Holiday Inc.: This holiday favorite follows an elf named Ivy who calls an emergency workshop about Christmas. It's at 7:30 p.m. at Jaeb Theater at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa. $34.50. (813) 229-7827.

John Heffron: The likable Detroit comic is performing today through Sunday. He won season two of Last Comic Standing, which launched him into being a regular on VH1 and Comedy Central. The 21-and-up-only show is at 8 p.m. at Improv, 1600 E Eighth Ave., Tampa. $17-$20. (813) 864-4000.

Die Hard: It doesn't scream "holiday flick," but this '80s Bruce Willis classic is festive enough. On Christmas Eve, Willis' NYPD detective tries to save hostages during a Christmas party in Los Angeles. See it at 8 p.m. at Capitol Theatre, 405 Cleveland St., Clearwater. $5. (727) 791-7400.

kids and family

Clearwater Winter Wonderland: It's the first night for this recurring event in downtown Clearwater that features a sparking holiday display with tens of thousands of lights. Activities include photos with Santa, cookie decorating with Mrs. Claus, a petting zoo with pony rides, train rides, bouncy house, entertainment and more. Donations of nonperishable food and unwrapped toys accepted. It's at 6 p.m. at the NW corner of Fort Harrison Avenue and Drew Street in Clearwater. Free.

to watch

Up All Night, 8 p.m., NBC Chris and Reagan want to take Amy to see snow for the first time. Because while it's nice the city has some trucked in and spread around the park, it's no substitute for the real thing. Wait, we're not talking about the show.

Burn Notice, 10 p.m., USA Michael hides in a warehouse because he's scared to death of a smuggler. You mean Patton Oswalt? Really?
