Eve 6: Best known for the melodramatic Inside Out, Eve 6 returns to the stage with two of three original members, evoking a more poppy, lovesick solid rock sound. It plays with Jimmie's Chicken Shack and Orange Hour at 7 p.m. at State Theatre, 687 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. $25. (727) 895-3045.
Silly Bandz Beach Bash: It's at United Skates of America, not the beach, but there will be beach tunes. The kid who wears the most of those silly silicon bracelets will win a $25 prize. It costs $8, and that includes skate rental. It's at 8 p.m. at 5121 N Armenia Ave., Tampa.
Johnny Phoenix, Danger Comedian: The Palm Beach County native fills his standup sets with improvisation and physical feats, sometimes eating fire. He performs at 8 p.m. at Theater 2 at the University of South Florida, 4202 E Fowler Ave., Tampa. $15. Buy tickets at johnnyphoenix.com (they're not on sale at the theater box office).
KIDS AND FAMILY
Free movie in the park: Take your little monsters to see Where the Wild Things Are today at Largo Central Park. It's doggie date night, too! Bring blankets and chairs. The movie begins about 7 p.m. at 101 Central Park Drive in Largo.
Wife Swap, 8 p.m., ABC: An etiquette teacher switches places with a mom who takes her daughters mud racing. There's got to be a polite way to spin doughnuts out in a bog.
Friday Night Lights, 8 p.m., NBC: It's homecoming, complete with angry boosters, a hunting trip and a history lesson about East Dillon. We don't recall homecoming being that exciting.
Cannibal Hippos, 10 p.m., NatGeo: This special about an apparent hippo-killing epidemic that jumps to humans sounds more like a SyFy original movie than an educational special.
