Things to do in Tampa Bay for Nov. 23

Black Nativity: Combining Langston Hughes' poetry with contemporary gospel music, this production by [email protected] celebrates the story of the nativity in scripture, verse, music and dance. It's at 7 p.m. at Palladium Theater, 253 Fifth Ave. N, St. Petersburg. Free, but tickets must be picked up in advance at the Palladium box office. (727) 895-6620.

Holiday Lights in the Garden: The display opens today, with plants decked out with twinkling lights. This year, there's a new laser light show. It opens at 5:30 p.m. at Florida Botanical Gardens, 12520 Ulmerton Road, Largo. $2, 11 and younger free. (727) 582-2100. There are more lights at the Kresge House, the annual Oakdale Christmas light display that opens today. It's open nightly 6-10 p.m. at 2719 Oakdale St. S in St. Petersburg. Free. (727) 896-6500.

Florida Orchestra Pops: Magical Movie Music: In his debut as pops conductor for the orchestra, Jeff Tyzik leads a program filled with music from silver screen classics like Casablanca, Star Wars, Harry Potter and more. It's at 8 p.m. at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa. $15-$45. (813) 229-7827.
