Things to do in Tampa Bay for Nov. 27

Downtown on Ice: The weather is warming up this week, but you can cool off with ice skating on an outdoor rink in the park. Each 90-minute session is $10 and includes skate rental. Rink opens at 4 p.m. at Curtis Hixon Park in Tampa. (813) 966-5505.

Holiday Lights in the Garden: Stroll through a garden of tropical plants glowing with more than 500,000 twinkling lights. This year, visitors will be treated to a new laser light show and an expansion of lights into the vinery garden. It starts at 5:30 p.m. at Florida Botanical Gardens, 12520 Ulmerton Road, Largo. The display runs through Jan. 1. $2, 11 and younger free. (727) 582-2100.

Ying Yang Twins: The hip-hop duo is probably best known for their appearance on Lil Jon's Get Low and their own Salt Shaker. They're hosting an "Old Skool Holiday" at 7 p.m. at Amphitheatre, 1609 E Seventh Ave., Ybor City. $10. (813) 873-8368.

coming up

Idina Menzel: The Broadway star of Wicked and Rent, not to mention Rachel's mom on Glee, will perform as part of the Straz Center's 25th Anniversary Gala on Saturday. Tickets start at $39.50. (813) 229-7827.

97X Next Big Thing: The showcase of up-and-coming talent includes veterans such as Rise Against, Bush, Silversun Pickups and Fun. all day Saturday. This year, the show moves from Tampa's 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre to St. Petersburg's Vinoy Park (just around the bend from Snowfest, on the same day). $45 advance, $60 at gate. 97xonline.com.

to watch

SEASON FINALE Dancing With the Stars: All-Stars, 8 p.m., ABC Is it too late for Emmitt Smith to win?

Go On, 9 p.m., NBC Misty May-Treanor asks Ryan to join her in a game. The summary doesn't specify if the game is beach volleyball, or baseball with her husband Matt. It will be disastrous, in any case.

Emily Owens, M.D., 9 p.m., CW Meryl Streep's daughter treats a deathly ill infant. That's almost too much melodrama for our taste. Almost.
