NecronomiCon: Sci-fi fans will be lining up this weekend for award-winning writer David Gerrold (the writer of "The Trouble with Tribbles" episode of Star Trek) and other bestselling science-fiction authors at the Hilton St. Petersburg Bayfront, 333 First St. S. It's $50 three days, $25 Friday or Saturday, $20 Sunday. (813) 982-9616. See www.stonehill.org/necro.htm.
Art After Dark: This month's arty party will be dead — but in a good way. Dress up in festive and traditional skeletal costumes for the Mexican holiday Dia de los Muertos, or Day of the Dead. There will be prizes. The coolest part is when dancers with 18-foot puppets perform and lead a parade while the Pedro Rodriguez & Jurika band play Latin and salsa music. It's at 8 p.m. $10, free for museum members; cash bar. Tampa Museum of Art, 120 Gasparilla Plaza, Tampa. (813) 274-8130.
Buckwheat Zydeco with Gumbo Boogie: Strapped with an accordion around his neck, Stanley "Buckwheat" Dural has jammed with some of the greatest, including Eric Clapton and U2. Show is 8 p.m. at Skipper's Smokehouse in Tampa. $18. (813) 977-6474.
KIDS AND FAMILY
'Casper': Bring your blankets, low lawn chairs or towels to plop on Clearwater Beach at Pier 60 and watch the friendly ghost for free at dusk. Concessions will be for sale.

Ghost Adventures, 9 p.m., Travel: The crew heads to an old home for the mentally ill because the paint in the halls is peeling. Well, duh, have you guys ever dealt with the humidity in western Pennsylvania?
My Super Psycho Sweet 16, Part 2, 10 p.m., MTV: At least now we have proof that MTV realizes the only reason we watched those spoiled brats and their extravagant birthday parties was so we could hate them.
