Things to do in Tampa Bay for Oct. 9

Arctic Monkeys: The loud, grubby and much buzz-about Brit rock pack returns to Tampa after performing to a sold-out crowd last year. It's 7 p.m. at Ritz Ybor, 1503 E Seventh Ave., Tampa. $27.

Tampa International Gay and Lesbian Film Festival: The festival, now in its 22nd year, moves over to the Tampa Museum of Art today, as well as Tampa Theatre. At the museum, six movies are lined up starting at noon, including Gen Silent, the critically acclaimed documentary about elderly LGBT people so afraid of discrimination by caregivers or bullying that many simply go back into the closet. The festival runs through Oct. 16 at venues on both sides of Tampa Bay. Visit for a complete rundown of films, locations and events. $9.50; cost varies at venues.

Hot Pepper Fest: Peppers prevail at this "hot" event at Sunken Gardens, with jellies, salsas and other foods to sample and buy; pepper plants from sweet to hot for sale for the kitchen garden; a pepper-eating contest; and pepper-themed clothing and art for sale. It's 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 1825 Fourth St. N, St. Petersburg. Free with gardens admission: $8, $6 seniors, $4 kids 2-11.
