Things to do in Tampa Bay for Sept. 4

BoomBox: According to our scorecard, BoomBox stole the show at this year's WMNF Tropical Heatwave. The Alabama duo blend a guitar and a stage full of synths, laptops and electronic equipment to create a sound right at home on a fashion runway. See them at 9 p.m. at Crowbar, Ybor City. $10-$13. (813) 241-8600.

Dog Days of Summer: A dog-friendly event with adoptable dogs, vendors, classes and demos by the Tampa Fire Department Search and Rescue Dogs. Starts at 9 a.m. at Florida State Fairgrounds Special Events Center, 4802 N U.S. 301, Tampa. Free. Parking $5. (813) 920-0443.

Gecko Fest: This whimsical, free family street festival and walking parade celebrates Labor Day weekend and the end of summer starting at noon and going into the night along Beach Boulevard in Gulfport. It all ends with the famous Street Dance at 8 p.m.

Crazy Keg Party: Free beer! Well, almost free. Admission includes all you can drink beer, a bikini contest, school supply drive and a raffle. Bring school supplies and get two free raffle tickets at 7 p.m. at Ferg's Sports Bar & Grill, 1320 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. $5 (includes beer). (813) 434-0375; fergssportsbar.com.

KIDS AND FAMILY

Saturday Sunsets on the Trail: Musicians and vendors line a mile of the beachfront trail, with Beach Blanket Bingo for prizes from local merchants before the event at 3:30 p.m., and Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull after sundown at Treasure Island Beach Trail Park, 10400 Gulf Blvd. Free.

TO WATCH

College football, 8 p.m., ABC: LSU and North Carolina is a pretty good match-up, but we're still waiting until Nebraska joins the Big 10 in 2011. We'll take all of November off, please.

Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?, 9 p.m., Style: On a very slow night, watch two best friends plan a double wedding, which they've wanted to do since they were kids. We know whose wedding it is, and it's certainly not the two grooms'.

MORE TO EXPLORE

It's the last weekend (through Monday) for Dine Tampa Bay, and the last chance for you to enter the "Win Date Night for a Year" contest. Look for it under "Quick Links" at tampabay.com/things-to-do.
