Things to do in Tampa Bay for Sept. 8

Tampa Bay Lightning at Dinosaur World: As the Tampa Bay Lightning celebrates its 20th anniversary, the team will be meeting the massive Mesozoic-era creatures at Dinosaur World and offering giveaways, games and a chance to meet the mascot Thunderbug. Get there between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. for $8 admission at 5145 Harvey Tew Road, Plant City. $14.95 general admission otherwise. (813) 717-9865.

Summerfest: American Idol winner David Cook is the headliner at this big concert and corn hole tournament, along with singer-songwriter Edwin McCain and Tampa Bay native Juliet Simms. The event, which is sponsored by Tampa pub Irish31, will also feature food, drinks and college football on two giant screens, so don't worry about missing the Gators, Bulls or 'Noles. It starts at 1 p.m. at Curtis Hixon Park in Tampa. $20, $100 for VIP.

I Like It Hot Festival: Turn up the heat with fiery foods, searing sauces, salsas and more at annual festival with a pepper eating contest (2 p.m.), amateur hot sauce competition (3 p.m.), pepper plants for sale and live music from local bands. It's at 10 a.m. at Minnreg Building, 6340 126th Ave. N, Largo. $5, kids 12 and under free. (727) 423-8433.

Date night

Liquid Desires: This year's craft beer and wine tasting event is set in 1930s Paris, so dress in period garb and enjoy samplings of craft beer and wine, French-themed food and live music. It's at 8 p.m. at Dalí Museum in St. Petersburg. $75, $50 members. (727) 823-3767.

SERIES PREMIERE I Was Impaled, 10 p.m. Discovery Fit & Health Do you find 1,000 Ways to Die too broad? Check out this series about people accidentally getting stabbed with fishing spears, pruning shears, spiked fences and even a french fry. Best not to watch this while eating kebab.
