Things to do in Tampa Bay for the week of Aug. 1-7

Dragon Boat racing: World Dragon Boat Racing Championships will be like Tampa's version of the Olympics, with more than 2,000 athletes from 17 countries. Opening ceremonies with a parade of nations are 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park, and racing runs Wednesday through Sunday on Seddon Channel. There's also an expo at the Tampa Convention Center. All free.

Lil Wayne: Expect a bigger band, pyrotechnics and a large scaffolding for Weezy to race around on. Plus he'll debut tunes off Tha Carter IV, due out at the end of August. Go-Go's and Goo Goo Dolls: No, not together, but in the same weekend after Rays games at the Trop. The peppy '80s group the Go-Go's perform Friday; the alt rockers known for Iris, Saturday. Both games against the Oakland A's start at 7:10 p.m. Included with game ticket. Toll-free 1-888-326-7297.

Date Night

Kings of Leon: They grew up in the Deep South fearing God but loving rock 'n' roll. On Tuesday, they'll play mostly from their latest disc, Come Around Sundown, at 7 p.m. at the 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheatre in Tampa. $39.50-$70.50. (813) 740-2446.
