Things to do in Tampa Bay for the week of Feb. 28

Paul Anka: The former teen idol and prolific songwriter will be at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater at 8 tonight. The teen dream of 1957's Diana also wrote Sinatra's My Way and She's a Lady for Tom Jones. $52.50-$98. (727) 791-7400.

Gasparilla Festival of the Arts: This annual outdoor festival is back in downtown Tampa's Curtis Hixon Park, with works by top-rated artists in the country, as well as live music and a children's art activity area Saturday and Sunday. Bonus: Nearby Tampa Theatre is offering free tours this weekend.

West Side Story: We feel pretty and witty and bright at the thought of the beloved musical's Broadway revival arriving Tuesday for a six-day run at the David A. Straz Jr. Center for the Performing Arts in Tampa. Tickets start at $43.50; (813) 229-7827.

Music: John Mellencamp's Friday show at Ruth Eckerd is sold out but you can catch the sultry Julio Iglesias on Thursday at 8 p.m. when the Spanish crooner (and father to hottie Enrique) comes to Mahaffey Theater in St. Petersburg, $47.50-$102.50.

Comedy: Sizzling comic Kevin Hart, who recently surpassed Eddie Murphy's record with $1.1 million in ticket sales over two days in L.A., brings his Laugh at My Pain tour to the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa on Friday; $37-$47. Plant City Strawberry Festival: Red alert! The Strawberry Fest is back and the music lineup is smashing. Opening day on Thursday is Ride-a-Thon Day, and a $19 wristband gets you on most rides 3-11 p.m. only. Entertainment includes Kenny Rogers on Thursday, and Sunday brings Trace Adkins and the Judds. Admission is $10, $5 ages 6-12.

Pet power: Your dog can have a busier social calendar than you this weekend. The Bay Area Renaissance Festival is having a Royal Pet Fest on the medieval MOSI grounds in Tampa. Then there's Bark in the Park at Al Lopez Park in Tampa on Saturday with the stars of National Geographic Channel's Rescue Ink at 8:30 a.m. Donation of $50 requested, (813) 274-8184.
