Things to do in Tampa Bay for the week of Jan. 10

Dalí Museum opens: There's a free public parade from the old museum on Third Street in St. Petersburg to the spectacular new one next to the Mahaffey starting at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday — 1/11/11. Regular hours start at 10 a.m. Wednesday, but no walk-up tickets will be sold. For at least the first few weeks, it's best to buy your tickets in advance online. $21, $19 seniors, $15 students and children ages 13-17, $7 children ages 6-12. thedali.org.

Hard Rock Cafe party: The opening event includes Styx (VIP-only concert), Mike "the Situation" Sorrentino from Jersey Shore, Kelly Bensimon from The Real Housewives of New York City and Samantha Ronson, who will DJ the party at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday. Tickets are $25 and up at the door at the Seminole Hard Rock in Tampa.

Barkarilla: Turn your pooch into a pirate for a parade down Seventh Avenue, with a dog/owner look-alike contest and lots of grog. Starts at noon Saturday at Gaspar's Grotto in Ybor City. $5. (813) 468-9491.

Date Night

The Improvised Shakespeare Company: It's like pop-up Shakespeare. The group creates a fully improvised play with plenty of rhyming couplets and a little slapstick. It's 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Straz Center in Tampa. $24.50. (813) 229-7827.

Music: Psychedelic indie rockers Of Montreal swing into the Ritz Ybor at 8:30 p.m. Saturday ($19 advance; $21 door); '90s fave Cake hits Jannus Live at 8 p.m. Saturday ($35); and Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr. celebrate 45 years of music at 9 p.m. Friday at the Club at Treasure Island ($65).

Kids and Family

Festival of Chocolate: MOSI will be like the Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory, where you'll be surrounded by truffles, cakes and sculptures galore. There will be tastings, Brownie Bingo and goodies for sale starting at 9 a.m. Saturday through Monday. $20.95, $18.95 seniors, $16.95 ages 2-12. mosi.org.

Florida Classic Clusters Dog Show: One of the top shows in the Southeast, this all-breed competition features nearly 20,000 dogs. It runs Thursday through Jan. 23 at Florida Classic Park in Brooksville. Free; $5 parking. (813) 480-3975.

See the manatees: It was 25 years ago that folks starting gathering at the TECO Manatee Viewing Center to watch the sea cows. This free party features Radio Disney, games and manatee programs at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Apollo Beach center. (813) 228-4289.
