Things to do in Tampa Bay for the week of July 16

Set the alarm: Wake up early Thursday and hit the sales starting at 6:43 a.m. for the Sunrise Sale and Pajama Party in downtown St. Petersburg. Shoppers still wearing their jammies get extra bargains. Follow the yellow flags along Beach Drive.

Concerts: We've got '90s hitmakers Barenaked Ladies on Tuesday at the 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheatre in Tampa with Blues Traveler, Cracker and Big Head Todd and the Monsters ($19-$75). And it wouldn't be summer without Dave Matthews and crew stopping by on Wednesday, also at the Gary ($40.50-$75). Saturday's post-game concert at the 7:10 p.m. Rays game is Gavin DeGraw, the alt-rock singer/songwriter giving a free show after the game. Local DJ Christion's annual star-studded birthday bash on Wednesday has hard hustler Ace Hood and Lean Back big man Fat Joe at Club Skye in Ybor City.

Cool Art Show 24: Seek refuge in the Coliseum's sweet, sweet air-conditioning to see dozens of artworks and crafts set up from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Coliseum, 535 Fourth Ave. N St. Petersburg. Free.

date night

Jake Johannsen: The veteran stand-up comedian is a late-night fixture, having racked up 40 appearances with David Letterman alone. He's at the Improv in Ybor Thursday through Sunday ($17-$20).

Art After Dark: This month's arty party at the Tampa Museum of Art is called Please Be Seated, to celebrate the museum's summer exhibit, "A Hundred Years — A Hundred Chairs" with chair-themed paintings and art chairs, a funky iPod barber chair and a DJ; ($5) at 8 p.m. Friday.

Kids and family

$5 Day at the Zoo: Everyone gets into the zoo for $5 Sunday. But get there early because it gets crowded for this deal at Lowry Park Zoo, 1101 W Sligh Ave., Tampa. 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday.

Snooty's birthday: Snooty is the oldest known manatee in captivity and the Bradenton resident is turning 64. The South Florida Museum will celebrate Saturday with a free outdoor party of children's games, wildlife awareness, cookies and juice. Museum admission reduced to $8 for adults, $7 seniors, $6 for children 4-12 at 201 10th St. W, Bradenton. (941) 746-4131. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday.
