Things to do in Tampa Bay for the week of July 9

Red Bull Wake Open: Some of the best wakeboarders on the planet will compete Friday and Saturday at the Tampa Convention Center. Think of it like water skiing on a small surfboard, but with ramps, twists and lots of big air. It also will be shown live Saturday on NBC. Free to watch.

Yappy Hour at the Baseball Game: Expect a lot of hot dogs (the furry kind) at the Christmas in July costume contest Wednesday at Frenchy's Tiki Bar at Bright House Field in Clearwater, when the Threshers take on the Fort Myers Miracle. $5-$9.50 humans, $5 dogs. Bring item for pet toy drive.

Sharks of Tampa Bay: Learn the real story about local sharks and their behaviors, along with some shark etiquette, Thursday at Tradewinds Sandpiper Resort in St. Pete Beach. Free. (727) 512-4914.

Singin' in the Rain: What a glorious feeling to see the 1952 musical starring Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds and Donald O'Connor on the big screen for its 60th anniversary Thursday at Park Place Stadium 16 in Pinellas Park, Hyde Park Cinebistro, Citrus Stadium 20 in Tampa, Regency 20 in Brandon and Grove 16 in Wesley Chapel. $12.50.
