Things to do in Tampa Bay for the week of Nov. 21

Ready, set, trot: Thanksgiving is Thursday, so you know what that means: Times Turkey Trot, then stuff yourself. There's a Wingding 5K, Fun Run 5K and Turkey Trot 10K in Clearwater, starting at 7 a.m. $12-$20. Canned goods will be collected. (727) 562-4700,

GWAR: Despite the recent death of its guitar player, the gore must go on Wednesday at the Hawaiian Village at Stadium Green Iguana in Tampa. $10 and up. (813) 868-7600.

Frank Sinatra: Come fly with the Florida Orchestra in a tribute to Sinatra and the big band sounds of Tommy Dorsey. Set list includes I've Got You Under My Skin and The Lady Is a Tramp on Friday at the Straz Center in Tampa, Saturday at the Mahaffey in St. Petersburg and Sunday at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. $15-$45. Black Nativity: The show tells the Christmas story with a combination of Langston Hughes' poetry and gospel music at 7 p.m. Friday and Sunday and 2 p.m. Saturday at the Palladium Theater in St. Petersburg. It's free, but you must pick up tickets in advance at the Palladium box office. (727) 895-6620.

Date Night

North by Northwest: Look for the cool Mount Rushmore chase scene in the 1959 Alfred Hitchcock mystery-romance starring Cary Grant and Eva Marie Saint at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Capitol Theatre in Clearwater. $6.

Get Roasted: For the 13 Ugly Men's Thanksgiving Eve bash, forget about the bird. The semiformal party kicks off the holiday season Wednesday night at Jackson's Bistro in Tampa. $10 women, $15 men, $20 VIP. Benefits the Bob Sierra Family YMCA. (813) 277-0112.

Kids and Family

Tree lightings: Flip the switch on Christmas with tree lightings and jolly festivities in St. Petersburg's North Straub Park and Tampa's Hyde Park Village. Both events start at 5 p.m. Friday. Free.

Elmo's Superheroes Visit: Dress the kids as their fave superhero and meet Cookie Monster for storytelling and arts and crafts at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Glazer Children's Museum in Tampa. $15, $12.50 military/seniors, $9.50 children, under 1 free. Kids in superhero costumes get in for $5. (813) 443-3861.

Art and Craft Festival: Tarpon Avenue in Tarpon Springs will be closed to traffic at 10 a.m. Saturday and Sunday for the 21st annual Thanksgiving weekend fest that aims to attract holiday shoppers. Free admission. (727) 322-5217.
