MC Hammer: One of the few men in history to be defined by a pair of pants kicks off the Lightning Concert Series after the Bolts take on the New York Rangers at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Pete Times Forum. Included with game ticket. (813) 301-2500.

Grand Central Chili Cook­off: A lot better than turkey leftovers. Sample winning entries and vote for your favorite. $10 wristband for tastes, plus live music and kids' activities, at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Grand Central District of Central Avenue in St. Petersburg.

Wicked Divas on Broadway: Delightful divas Erin Mackey and Julia Murney will sing tunes from Wicked, Evita, Chicago and more with the Florida Orchestra. The pops concert is 8 p.m. Friday at the Straz in Tampa, 8 p.m. Saturday at the Mahaffey in St. Pete and 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. $20-$67. (727) 892-3337.

Instant holiday spirit: In Old Hyde Park in Tampa, a 30-foot tree will be lighted to welcome Santa, plus live music, cookies and cocoa, starting at 6 p.m. Friday. Free. In North Straub Park in St. Petersburg, Mayor Bill Foster lights the tree and displays along the waterfront at 7 p.m. Friday. Free.

Clyde Beatty Circus: A traditional circus with elephants, clowns, aerial acts and pony and camel rides sets up in Town Square Plaza Park in Pinellas Park for shows Friday through Sunday. $20, $5 children. For tickets and times:
