Things to do in Tampa Bay for the week of Nov. 28

Boat parades: On Saturday, lighted boats float along the waterway to Dunedin Marina, where Santa will hop off to light the tree in Edgewater Park (6 p.m.; free). On Sunday, decorated boats sail in Tampa at 6:30 p.m. See it from Channelside; SS American Victory ship and the Convention Center. Free.

James Shields book signing: The Rays pitcher along with biographer Bill Chastain host a talk and signing for Shields' new book, September Nights: Hunting the Beasts of the American League East, at 6:30 p.m. Friday at Barnes and Noble, 11802 N Dale Mabry, Tampa.

Like magic: The stage show based on Masters of Illusion: Impossible Magic on MyNetwork TV has exotic animals, dancers and mentalists at 7:30 tonight at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. $28-$48. (727) 791-7400.

The Nutcracker: The St. Petersburg Ballet Co. production is the first of the season, with shows Friday through Sunday at the Palladium in St. Petersburg. $10-$20. (727) 822-3590.

Date Night

Big music: Tenor Andrea Bocelli is at the St. Pete Times Forum in Tampa on Sunday ($75-$350; (813) 301-2500). Also Sunday, Janet Jackson does her greatest hits at the Straz Center in Tampa ($59.50 and up; (813) 229-7827). Hall and Oates at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater on Saturday ($49.50-$100; (727) 791-7400). 97X Next Big Thing brings breakout talent including Young the Giant and Awolnation at 10 a.m. Saturday at 1-800-ASK-GARY Amphitheatre in Tampa ($30-$65; (813) 740-2446). Also at the Gary is Judas Priest on Wednesday ($91; (813) 740-2446).

Kids and Family

Snow! There's a free blizzard of it this week. There will be snow slide rides at the tree lighting festival Thursday at Joe Chillura Courthouse Square in Tampa. On Friday, Miracle on Cleveland Street in Clearwater will have 12 tons of snow and two giant snow slides, and Christmas Wonderland at R.E. Olds Park in Oldsmar will have a giant snow slope. And on Saturday in downtown St. Petersburg, it's the 84th annual Santa Parade at 10 a.m., which ends at North Straub Park for Snowfest with 65 tons of snow ($5 wristband). No snow in Tampa on Saturday, but there will be outdoor ice skating on real ice in Curtis Hixon Park ($10), Santa Fest and a holiday parade at 11 a.m.

Elmo's Super Heroes: When Super Grover loses his superness, it's Elmo and friends to the rescue, with shows Tuesday and Wednesday at the St. Pete Times Forum. $12-$22. (813) 301-2500.
