Things to do in Tampa Bay for week of July 5

Chihuly Collection: Finally, the glass sculptures of Dale Chihuly will sparkle in their new home in St. Petersburg. The festivities begin Saturday, when the artist gives a lecture and book signing at 2 p.m. at the Renaissance Vinoy in St. Petersburg ($150) and attends a cocktail party and tour of the collection at 7 p.m. ($200). Sunday is the premiere tour, from 1 to 6 p.m. ($125), and a week from today general admission begins in timed intervals ($15) at 400 Beach Drive NE. Music: Don't be surprised if hyperanimated Brit pop star Jamie Cullum leaps atop his piano during his show at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater. $33-$53. (727) 791-7400. And who knows what to expect with Vanilla Ice in the house after the Rays take on the Cleveland Indians on Friday at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg. Date Night

Surreal Fridays: Dali Jazz Nights: Impress your date with deep contemplations on The Hallucinogenic Toreador (visit the cash bar first) as the smoky jazz of the Jim Morey Band plays in the background. Cigar bar and tapas, too. Starts at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Dali Museum in St. Petersburg. $8.50. (727) 823-3767

Beertopia: A.k.a. guys' night out. Tank's Tap Room celebrates beer with free tastes, live music and barbecue in the outdoor beer garden. Starts at 5 p.m. Saturday at 13150 N Dale Mabry Highway, Tampa. Free admission, but charge for food and beverages. (813) 961-2337.

Kids and family

A Dog's Night Out: Dress up the pooch (or yourself) for a dog-owner look-alike contest, plus nail trimming (fun!), cooling stations, pet adoptions and line dancing (dogs, too?). Bring proof of vaccinations. It's at 6 p.m. Friday at Cuppy's Coffee House, 7635 Horse Lake Road, Brooksville. Free.
