Things to do in Tampa Bay for week of Oct. 11

Hipster concerts: Two supertrendy bands are back-to-back at Jannus Live in St. Petersburg. Vampire Weekend brings world-pop at 7 p.m. Tuesday ($29.50 plus fees), and the Flaming Lips bring the crazy at 8 p.m. Wednesday ($37.50-$70, plus fees). Ethan Bortnick: At age 9, this celebrity pianist from Pembroke Pines can play everything from Bach to the Beatles. See him at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Largo Cultural Center. $35-$40. (727) 587-6793.

Date night

Clearwater Jazz Holiday: The four-day fest kicks off with a full lineup in Clearwater's Coachman Park on Thursday with headliner Dr. John & the Lower 911 (gates 4:30 p.m.). Then it's Norman Brown with Brenda Russell & Jessy J on Friday (gates 4 p.m.), Soulive on Saturday, ending with fireworks (gates 2 p.m.), and Eric Darius featuring Lalah Hathaway on Sunday (gates 2 p.m.). Free.

Pops in the Park: Join the Florida Orchestra for music under the stars, including Brahms, Dvorak and selections from South Pacific and Harry Potter. Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture is the finale. Shows at 7 p.m. Friday at River Tower Park in Tampa and 7 p.m. Saturday at Vinoy Park in St. Petersburg. Free.

Kids and family

FishHawk Ranch Pumpkin Festival: With more than 1,000 pumpkins to test your carving skills, plus hamster ball races, hay rides and games starting at 2 p.m. Saturday.
