Sunset Cinema at Pier 60: Plop on Clearwater Beach with a blanket or a low beach chair and watch Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs for free. Popcorn and drinks will be for sale (as always, no alcohol on the beach). Movie starts at dusk.
Jaws anniversary: Perhaps a beach town would not want to remind folks of the horror of a great white shark feasting on swimmers, but the Capitol Theatre in Clearwater is celebrating the 35th anniversary of the chomptastic blockbuster Jaws at the 1975 price of $2. Things kick off at 6 p.m. in the Cleveland Street district with the Clearwater Threshers mascot and animal expert talks. The movie rolls at 7:45 p.m.
Hillbilly Hellfest 2010: Dubbed Tampa Bay's biggest rockabilly event, there's a hot rod car show from 5 to 8 p.m., swing dancing and a whole string of bands at the State Theatre, 687 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. $12. (727) 895-3045.
