Anniversary cake unveiling: For the 85th anniversary of the Renaissance Vinoy Resort and Golf Club, the hotel's baking team has created a giant edible replica. See it unveiled today in the lobby, where it will remain until Jan. 5 at 501 Fifth Ave. NE, St. Petersburg.

Carmen Ciricillo: This Florida comic was all over CNN last week, but not for his act, but for the hilarious Thanksgiving grease fire that took off on YouTube. Hanukkah: Straub Park in St. Petersburg will celebrate Hanukkah with live music, hot latkes and a giant menorah filled with donated toys at 5:30 p.m. at Fifth Avenue NE and Bayshore Drive. From 4 to 6 p.m. at Tampa's Plant Park, 201 W Kennedy Blvd., there will be a giant menorah, latkes and treats.

Prohibition parties: Dec. 5 is a special day in the hearts of lushes everywhere. It's the day in 1933 that Prohibition was repealed, so the Don Vicente De Ybor Historic Inn in Ybor City and Ciro's Speakeasy in Tampa are planning parties Sunday. At Don Vincente's, 1915 Republic de Cuba Ave., it's $20 for entry and one drink, $40 for an open bar from 9 p.m. to midnight. At Ciro's, 2109 Bayshore Blvd., there will be a Prohibition cocktail and a four-course classic American dinner served from 5:30 to 8 p.m. for $75; (813) 251-0022.
