Things to do on Thursday, March 18

Little Dragon: This Swedish electronic avant-jazz-pop act promises to be the latest in a line of Ybor City music spectacles. Think the Knife meets Hot Chip meets Bjork meets Ladytron. After this, Little Dragon heads off to Coachella in California. You would do well to say you saw them way back when. Tickets are $10 at Crowbar, 1812 17th St. N, Ybor City. (813) 241-8600.

Spring training baseball: It's Navy Night at the New York Yankees vs. the Rays game today at George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa. Hear a performance by the Navy rock band Pride and see a jump by the Navy Leapfrogs before the game. There's even an admiral on hand to throw out the opening pitch at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $17-$31 at

Richard Marx: For date night, this is serious stuff. The '80s heartthrob's acoustic show is at 8 tonight at the Capitol Theatre, 405 Cleveland St., Clearwater. $34.50 (limited tickets available). (727) 791-7400.

Zakir Hussain: The virtuoso on the classical tabla (a pair of tuned hand drums used in musical genres of India) performs at 8 p.m. Stay after for a talk-back with the artist. Ferguson Hall at Straz Center for the Performing Arts, 1010 N MacInnes Place, Tampa. $22.50-$55.50. (813) 229-7827.

Chasco Fiesta: The annual ode to Native Americans and their Spanish "friends" kicks off tonight for 11 days of entertainment and a daily carnival along the Pithlachascotee River in downtown New Port Richey. Most events are free. See for a schedule.

What to watch

Afghan Star, 9 p.m., HBO: A doc following the Afghan version of American Idol, which caused an uproar when one female contestant danced in public without her head scarf. Also telling is that, like America, this show is more popular with voters than actually voting for government officials.

FlashForward, 8 p.m., ABC: Joseph Fiennes' fairly compelling serial was just getting good when the ne'er-do-well ABC suits pulled the rug out from under it last December and are only now bringing it back. Let's hope enough people remember it to keep the show alive.
