What to do today

Ace Hood: When a football injury sidelined Antoine McColister's athletic career in Port St. Lucie, he became Ace Hood and dedicated himself to his music. His Def Jam-produced single Cash Flow was a smash hit in South Florida and he released his first full-length, Gutta, over the summer. 10 p.m. Club Underground, 802 E Whiting St., Tampa. $25, $50 VIP. (727) 657-9119.

Best Friends and Beers: You might need a sweater for sitting out on the patio, but the weather will be just right for your four-legged, furry friends at the monthly meeting for dogs and drafts. This month's featured beer is German ales, so if you have a German Shepherd, your first beer is free. 5:30 p.m. Jackson's Bistro, 601 S Harbour Island Blvd., Tampa. (813) 277-0112. jacksonsbistro.com.

Creaky Bones 5K: Get a head start on burning off some of those holiday calories tonight. If you're like us, the office has been stocked with candy for weeks, and we haven't even gotten to the kids' leftovers yet. Runners will race through the waterfront of St. Petersburg, but kids can participate too, with a 1-mile trick-or-treat fun run. Race proceeds benefit the Arthritis Foundation. 7 p.m. Pier, 800 Second Ave. NE, St. Petersburg. (727) 821-6443.

Politics, Sex, Lies, and Power: The artists featured in this show have had plenty of time to create pieces that express their personal political perspectives. The opening reception runs from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. tonight. The show runs through Jan. 3. Art Center Sarasota, 707 N Tamiami Trail, Sarasota. (941) 365-2032. artsarasota.org.

The Rocky Horror Show: There's still time to catch the biggest, baddest rock 'n' roll musical ever before it makes its way to the exits. True to tradition, late-night performances will encourage audience participation, but you "virgins" have no idea what you're in for!. 7:30 p.m. Thur., 7:30 and 11 p.m. Fri.-Sat. Jaeb Theater at Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center, 1010 N MacInnes Place, Tampa. $31.50. (813) 229-7827. tbpac.org.
