Endless Summer Beach Extravaganza: It may be hosted by the 13 Ugly Men charity group but expect plenty of beautiful people to be out enjoying a full day of sun and fun. In addition to the DJs and live bands, of course you'll see the Hot Body and Bikini Contests. And who could miss the "Worst Body on the Beach" competition? (Please tell us there are no Speedos involved.) WFLZ 93.3 will even join in on the fun with a live remote from Shepard's Wave nightclub. 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Shephard's, 619 S Gulfview Blvd., Clearwater. $10 online, $15 at the door. (727) 442-5107. 13uglymen.com.

WMNF 29th Birthday Bash/Earthdance: WMNF celebrates its 29th year as a community radio station in the same manner it has earned loyal listeners, with eclectic sounds and an unpretentious spirit. You'll hear Asheville's Toubab Krewe (fuses rock with West African music), Austin roots artist Carolyn Wonderland and Tampa alt act Edison Shine, which plays for the first time in 10 years. The Earthdance portion is a prayer for peace and drum circle. 5:30 p.m. today Cuban Club, 2010 Ave. Republica De Cuba N, Tampa. $23 advance, $28 at the door. (813) 248-2954.

Kid's Art Festival: The children's museum at the Dunedin Fine Arts Center hosts a day of outdoor activities, including art, music, games and the ever popular Paint-A-Car, where kids get to paint their designs on a real automobile. Seriously? That sounds tempting for parents too! Also on view indoors, a new dream-related hands-on kid's exhibit. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Dunedin Fine Arts Center at David L. Mason Children's Art Museum, 1143 Michigan Blvd., Dunedin. $3 suggested donation for festival, museum is free. (727) 298-3322.

Scary Kids Scaring Kids: One of the better groups in the post-hardcore scene, Scary Kids Scaring Kids may have a funny name but there's nothing funny about the music. They also support both PETA and the Take Action Tour, which helps to raise awareness about suicide prevention.6 p.m. State Theatre, 687 Central Ave., St. Petersburg. $15-$17. (727) 895-3045. statetheatreconcerts.com.

aTtIc sAlE: Hopefully there are still some good treasures to find at the local chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers' attic sale and silent auction. Think of it as a garage sale, but instead of giving your loose change to your neighbors, the proceeds will benefit the Unsinkable Molly Brown Foundation, which supports children's arts in this area. The sale continues today from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the air-conditioned Artie's Moving & Storage, 5005 N Howard in Tampa.

More to do: It's a busy day in Tampa Bay, with 149 other great events today. Find them all at entertainment.tampabay.com.

towatch

Saturday Night Live: 11:29 p.m., NBC (season premiere!): Michael Phelps and his idol, Lil Wayne, kick off another season. Phelps is so fast, the show has to start a minute early to keep up. After all, NBC owes it to Phelps after his eight gold medals in the Olympics sent the network's ratings soaring. Then there's this: Barak Obama is also slated to make an appearance, though details of his sketch are ... sketchy. And if that wasn't enough, rumors are swirling that Tina Fey will make a cameo as her twin-from-another-mother, Sarah Palin. Set the DVR now.

The poo-poo mom blues: Every mom wants to be "that" mom. You know, the one with Band-Aids and organic spinach muffins in her matching handbag. Why does something always go wrong? Chime in at blogs.tampabay.com/moms.
