Author signings Author Charles Muir, considered the originator of the modern Tantra movement in the United States 30 years ago, will be at Inkwood Books, 216 S Armenia Ave. in Tampa, at 7 tonight to sign his book Tantra The Art of Conscious Loving. And at Haslam's Book Store in downtown St. Petersburg, former Tampa Tribune crime reporter Ace Atkins will read and sign his new noir novel Wicked City at 3 p.m. at 2025 Central Ave.

Seminole Heights movie Tampa Theatre is host to the Old Seminole Heights Neighborhood Association presentation, Seminole Heights: An Intimate Look at the Early Years. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for the 7:30 showing of this look at Seminole Heights' part in the Civil War and its development in the early 20th century. Hear tales of growing up during the Great Depression when backyard vegetable gardens and camaraderie kept bellies full and spirits high. Ybor Festival of the Moving Image Tonight is the opening of the sixth annual celebration of independent film at Hillsborough Community College. From 7 to 10 p.m., there will be experimental shorts and animations projected on and around the new HCC Performing Arts Building, as well as live performances by the dance and theater departments. All screenings will be held in the HCC Performing Arts Building at the corner of Palm Avenue and 14th Street. $5, unless noted at the box office.

Adam Pascal The star of the Broadway and film version of Rent takes the stage after tonight's production for a solo concert with pianist Larry Edoff. It's at 10 in the Margarete Heye Great Room at Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater. $30. (727) 791-7400.
