Things to do today

Michelle Shocked If you are tired of corporate country, check out the storyteller with the folk style and a rebellious curve, performing at the Beach Theatre, 315 Corey Ave. in St. Pete Beach. Doors open at 7 and the show is at 8 p.m. $20-$25.

It's $4 for nonmembers for the 5:30 p.m. gallery talk only. It's $10 if you want to hear the gallery talk and attend the reception afterward at the museum at 200 N Tampa St. in Tampa.

Elon Gold: Half Jewish, Half Very Jewish You don't have to be Jewish to laugh at this funny man, but it helps. He will perform at 7:30 tonight at the David A. Straz, Jr. Center for the Performing Arts' Jaeb Theater, 1010 N MacInnes Place, Tampa. $29.50. Call (813) 229-7827 or go to tbpac.org.

Beaujolais nouveau day It's tradition that today, the third Thursday in November, we get our hands on the first wine of the year made from the gamay grapes harvested in the hilly area north of Lyon, France. Barely two months ago, the grapes were hanging on the vine. For more on this year's vintage and a list of dinners and tastings, go to food.tampabay.com.

Lunchtime Music Series This sure beats the usual Lean Cuisine at your desk. Clearwater hosts a free concert in the downtown district. This week, bring a sack lunch and enjoy classic rock by Ricky Wilcox at 11:30 a.m. at Station Square Park, 612 Cleveland St. Free.
