Mainstream Killed the Indie Star Tampa's rock scene goes public access in this new weekly half-hour indie rock show on Tampa Bay Community Network. It airs tonight at 10 on Ch. 949 (Brighthouse) and Ch. 36 (Verizon) for Hillsborough County viewers. It's the brainchild of USF graduate and local filmmaker Shekinah Apedo, who wants indiestar.tv to become the online video network for independent and unsigned bands.

Folk Art Lecture Jeanine Taylor, whose Sanford folk-art gallery specializes in Southern art, will give a talk on Florida and its place in the contemporary folk-art scene. It's free at 7 tonight at the Studio@620, 620 First Ave. S, St. Petersburg. (727) 895-6620.

Tampa Bay Singles Golf This is socializing time, though some of the members are teeing off at 3:30 p.m. before the evening gathering at Westchase Golf Club, 11602 Westchase Golf Drive, Tampa. Cost at the door is $15 for members and $20 for nonmembers. An hors d'oeuvre buffet is included and cash bar is available. Doors open at 5:30 and the meeting begins at 7.
