Dave Matthews Band The good-time guys are back for their yearly summer stop. Make sure you check out opening act Gomez, an up-and-coming pop-rock act from England that's getting raves. The show starts at 7 p.m. at the Ford Amphitheatre, but the party in the parking lot starts much earlier at Interstate 4 at U.S. 301 N, Tampa. $40-$75. (813) 740-2446.

Cute is What We Aim For Like Panic at the Disco, this emo-friendly band from Buffalo has a tart name and lyrics, with a rabid fan base. See them tonight at 8 with Ace Enders, Danger Radio and Power Space at the State Theatre, 687 Central Ave. St. Petersburg. $12

Carole King The four-time Grammy Award winner has a song book to die for (Will You Love Me Tomorrow, So Far Away, It's Too Late) and is an inductee into every Hall of Fame worth knowing. She'll be at Ruth Eckerd Hall tonight at 8. $75-$125. (727) 791-7400.

Steve Johnson The comedian performs tonight through Saturday at 9:30 at Coconuts Comedy Club, Tradewinds Sandpiper Resort, 6000 Gulf Blvd., St. Pete Beach. $15. (727) 360-5653.

Indy Film Cafe The Studio@620 continues its documentary film series tonight at 8 with the Granny D Goes to Washington, about 89-year-old Doris Haddock's cross-country walk to bring attention to campaign finance reform. It's followed by Can Mr. Smith Get to Washington Anymore? about a 2004 Missouri Democratic race between an established, well-funded candidate and his unknown political science teacher opponent. Admission is $5, or $3 for members at 620 First Ave. S in downtown St. Petersburg.

Book signing Tony returns! Still-adored former Bucs coach Tony Dungy has a new children's book out, You Can Do It!, and the Super Bowl winner (for the Indianapolis Colts) will be in town Friday signing the book at the Barnes & Noble in Carrollwood, 11802 N Dale Mabry in Tampa, from 4 to 7 p.m. To control the crowd, store managers will be handing out entry wrist bands starting at noon.

S'Real Fridays at Dali The surreal summer happy hour series returns Friday to the Dali Museum with old-school blues, jazz, swing and ska by Lounge Cat. It runs 5 to 8 p.m. Dali Museum, St. Petersburg. Half-price admission of $7.50 adults, $6.75 seniors. (727) 823-3767.
