NEW PORT RICHEY — The Chasco Boat Parade and the Chasco Country Concert highlight today's activities at Chasco Fiesta, which ends at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Activities start at 7 a.m., as walkers, runners and bicycle riders sign up for the Alzheimer's Family Organization's Chasco Challenge in Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park. The walks, foot races and bike tours start at 8 a.m.
Other major events are the new Chasco Wine and Art Festival around Orange Lake and the Boy Scouts of America Pinewood Derby nearby.
The theme for the boat parade is "Musical Madness." Several decorated boats will also have live bands on board, all entrants vying for the $2,500 grand prize, as well as other cash prizes, trophies and ribbons.
The Country Concert features Jason Michael Carroll (Alyssa Lies, Livin' Our Love Song, I Can Sleep When I'm Dead) and Jimmy Wayne (Stay Gone, I Love You This Much), with opening acts Wiley Fox and 11-year-old singer-songwriter Suite Caroline.
Tickets are $15 and $25 in advance, $20 and $30 at the gate. Tickets are for sale online at chascofiesta.com. Click on "Buy Tickets" at the top of the page.
