The new minions-centered Despicable Me ride at Universal Studios will have a grand opening July 2, the Orlando theme park announced Wednesday. In the meantime, there's a good chance park visitors will get a chance to check it out now as the ride, called Despicable Me Minion Mayhem, conducts "technical rehearsals" for its latest attraction. Technical rehearsal means visitors "will get to experience a work in progress as we put the final touches in place," the park said in announcement. But it's all a matter of luck for now, because there is no published operating schedule and the park says it won't announce operating hours in advance. The storyline of the ride, which uses characters from the 2010 animated film Despicable Me, has park guests being recruited to be minions — yellow, pint-sized, goggled workers of Gru, voiced by actor Steve Carell. Training is done by Gru's three daughters.
